Architected and led the full modernization lifecycle of multiple legacy PHP applications for clients in Portugal.
Backend Modernization:
• PHP — Refactored procedural and legacy OOP codebases to PSR-compliant, SOLID architecture.
• MySQL → AWS RDS — Migrated on-premise databases to managed RDS instances.
• REST API — Designed and documented RESTful APIs with versioning, authentication, and rate limiting.
Cloud Infrastructure:
• AWS ECS — Containerised monolith applications to independently deployable services.
• AWS RDS — Managed MySQL with Multi-AZ and automated snapshots.
• RedisJson — Replaced slow DB queries with JSON-aware Redis caching, reducing response times significantly.
