No — all PDF merging happens in your browser using the PDF-lib library. Your files never leave your device.

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

There is no enforced limit. The practical constraint is browser memory — merging many large PDF files simultaneously may cause the browser to slow down. For large batches (50+ files), consider merging in groups and then merging the merged files.

Will the merged PDF preserve hyperlinks, bookmarks, and form fields?

PDF-lib preserves the visible content (pages, text, images) of each input file. Some advanced PDF features — interactive form fields, digital signatures, complex bookmarks, embedded JavaScript, and certain encryption types — may not be fully preserved after merging. For critical legal documents with such features, use Adobe Acrobat or a professional PDF tool.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Password-protected (encrypted) PDFs cannot be merged until they are decrypted. Remove the password protection first using a PDF unlocker tool (if you have the password and authorization to do so), then merge the decrypted files.
