What types of data can a QR code store?
QR codes can store URLs, plain text, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS messages, vCard contact data, Wi-Fi credentials (SSID + password), geographic coordinates, and more. The maximum data capacity depends on the QR version and error correction level — typically a few hundred to a few thousand characters.
What is error correction level and which should I choose?
Error correction allows a QR code to be scanned even if part of it is damaged or obscured. Level L (7%) works for clean digital displays. Level M (15%) is the standard for most uses. Level Q (25%) or H (30%) is recommended if the QR code will be printed small, placed outdoors, or may be partially covered by a logo.
Can I add a logo in the center of the QR code?
This tool generates standard QR codes without a logo overlay. Logos can be added by placing an image on top of the QR code in a design tool (Figma, Canva, Photoshop). Use error correction level H when adding a logo, as the logo will cover part of the code and high error correction ensures it still scans.
Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes (like those generated here) do not expire — they are simply a visual encoding of text or a URL. However, if the URL the QR code points to goes offline or changes, the QR code will no longer work correctly.
